Note to Julius Caesar, 1.1.63, "the Capitol"

to
Julius Caesar,
Act 1, Scene 1, line 63
the Capitol The Capitoline is the smallest and highest of Rome's seven hills. On its southern summit stood the Temple of Jupiter, where victorious generals made sacrifices. Flavius is sending Marullus on the route that he knows that will be followed by Caesar's triumphal procession.

The Capitoline is the traditional political center of Rome, and its city hall is still there.
